HQ launches their new Mediterranean Delicacies Aperitivo Board

Feeling like a flavour adventure? HQ launches its new Mediterranean inspired Aperitivo Board pairing menu with Mediterranean Delicacies and the Brandhouse World Class Reserve collection. The launch took place on Wednesday, 27 August 2014, at Headquarters Restaurant, Heritage Square, Cape Town.

Overflowing with flavour fusions, World Class introduced their four new signature cocktails, which were demonstrated to the audience before tasting. Each cocktail was paired gorgeously with four generously sized tapas integrating Mediterranean Delicacies’ ingredients prepared in HQ’s unique culinary style.

Raising the bar in experimental, experiential gastronomy, different elements of sensory stimulants were brought into the mix. For example, helium balloons with Pastis were released with the Dill-Lectable cocktails, with the goal being to add an aromatic olfactory enhancement. Something different.

Another well paired duo were the smoked salmon & cucumber parcels (filled with avocado, Mediterranean Delicacies sweet chilli cream cheese, caper berries, and lime) accompanied by the oh so British High Tea cocktail which comprised Tanqueray London Dry, cucumber, citrus, mint with a splash of tonic.

Comedian Mum-z hosted the evening with special performances by singer Ricky Botsis. Guests were encouraged to keep their phones at hand and ears peeled for the Foodie Twitter Quiz (Twiz) which saw three lucky guests return home with Medi Deli and HQ hampers!

The new Mediterranean Delicacies Aperitivo Board special will be available at HQ every weekday from 5 PM to 7 PM for R250.00 and includes the tapas boards and four cocktails.

Nitida celebrating Seasons of Sauvignon

Enter the World of the Durbanville Grape

Add a drop of spring to your step at the annual Seasons of Sauvignon on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th October, 2014. Recognized as one of the country’s top terroirs for quality wines, the Durbanville wine valley will be hosting an array of Nitida Wines and 10 other leading wine producers showcasing their finest cultivars in the celebration of Sauvignon!

Renowned for its rolling hills and Mediterranean climate, complimented by the moisture driven coastal mist and cooling southeaster from False Bay on the Indian Ocean, Durbanville wine valley finds itself perfectly positioned for the production of award winning cool-climate wines.

“We carefully managed all our sauvignon blanc vineyards by partially opening up the canopy for optimal sun exposure thus guaranteeing healthy grapes, enhancing fruit development during ripening and ensuring a desirable balance of pyroxene (green) and thiols (tropical)” Says Nitida Wines Owner, Bernhard Veller.

This year’s Seasons of Sauvignon at Nitida wine farm will be hosted (entrance free) at the family friendly restaurant, Tables@Nitida, which has recently undergone reconstruction and doubled in size. The venue still boasts a natural outdoor amphitheatre, ideal for live concerts and picnics on the lawn, offering ample room for jumping castles and other fun outdoor activities.

A variety of stalls will be on display offering an array of delicious sweet and savoury treats for all tastes. Pre-booked picnics are also available at a cost of R240 (R300 per couple on the day).

Guests can kick back and enjoy the live band with family and friends whilst sipping on their favourite Sauvignon Blanc. Additional cocktails will be made available for the more experimental pallet, including the Elderflower Sauvignon Blanc slush garnished with fresh mint.
