Cape Royale Gives Back

On Friday, 18 July 2014, the Cape Royale Luxury Hotel and Spa Management team grouped together for their 67 minutes of giving back to the community for Mandela Day.

With 67 lunch parcels the team headed out to disseminate the food packs to homeless and other less fortunate Cape Town inhabitants. Additionally, 67 copies of the Big Issue were purchased from various vendors throughout the area, which were subsequently offered to guests upon check in at the hotel later that afternoon.

“We continuously strive to assist in improving the lives and education of our in-house staff, today we took the opportunity to give back to the community at large in our neighbourhood, in honour of Mandela Day and the immense good that Tata Mandela stood for in his courageous and positively revolutionary life which he dedicated to the people of his country,” says Cape Royale Luxury Hotel and Spa MD, Johann du Plessis.

Medac and Rockets sees SA Cyclist into the L’Étape du Tour

L’Étape du Tour in the Pyrénées will be joined this year by Philippus Jacobus Francois Grobler, winner of the Medac and Rockets Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour competition held at their stand this year.

Following his dreams, the 37 year old South African cyclist enthusiast will be participating in the Tour de France race along the Col du Tourmalet from Ste-Marie-de-Campan and finishing at the ski-station of Hautacam. His trip, valued at R60, 000.00 departs Johannesburg on July 17th, returning July 21st , 2014.

Cassia hosts Christmas in July for Charitable Cause

This July Cassia Restaurant at Nitida Wine Farm in the Durbanville winelands is hosting a Christmas in July charity fundraiser for the Iris House Children’s Hospice.

The three course dinner-dance is being offered at R275.00 per person with R150.00 from each ticket sold being donated to this fantastic foundation; offering guests the opportunity to enjoy fabulous food prepared by Cassia’s French Chef Florent Hameau and his team, accompanied by gorgeous Nitida wines.

Mediterranean Delicacies Gourmet Luncheon with the Drunken Tuscan

Celebrity Chef, Lapo Magni, also known as The Drunken Tuscan, hosted a Mediterranean Delicacies infused luncheon at the Cape Royale Luxury Hotel and Spa’s Villa Louise on Tuesday 24th June, 2014.

The Drunken Tuscan whipped up a Mediterranean inspired feast for his VIP guests at the luxury villa, showcasing exotic dishes like his speciality: Climaxing Risotto, where a three cheese risotto is infused with the Nitida Matriarch Chardonnay Pinot Noir MCC; followed by slow roasted lamb shanks stuffed with garlic, rosemary, Medi Deli Calamata olives, sun dried tomatoes and anchovies, with Tzatziki Royal served on the side.

Rounding off on a sweet note, the Drunken Tuscan fired things up with his homemade Pistachio Halva Ice Cream on a smoking display of dry ice. “I wanted to show my guests a fantastic gastronomic experience using gorgeous Mediterranean Delicacies ingredients, paired beautifully with exquisite Nitida wines, and what better venue than the Cape Royale Villas” says Lapo Magni.

Due to a super exciting restaurant makeover in the making the Cape Royale Luxury Hotel and Spa’s Bistro 1800 will be hosting its third and final winter food and wine pairing evening, this time headed up by the enigmatic Takuan von Arnim of Haute Cabriere and Pierre Jourdan.

Sip Soup and Bread Winter Warmer Weekend at Nitida

Nitida Wines, together with Tables @Nitida and Cassia restaurant, will be warming bellies this winter with the annual Sip Soup and Bread weekend on the 7th and 8th of June 2014.

“We have selected all the favourites from over the past four years… adding in a real South African influence with three of the soups and have gone Thai and Dutch on the other two” says Cassia and Tables@Nitida owner, Warren Swaffield.

The soups will be served from potjie pots in the courtyard and new annex at Cassia (overlooking the gorgeous lake), at R50.00 for a single 400ml portion plus a large freshly baked Panini. Soups on offer include Roast Mushroom, Biltong & Mosbolletjie Croutons; Lentil & Ham Hock; Thai Curry Sweet Potato; Malay-spiced Seafood Chowder; and Lamb and Tomato Bredie. Alternatively, guests can try a combination each of the five soups in 150ml cups for a mere R80.00, also served with a fresh Panini.

In addition to the regular menu options, an additional two soups will be available at Tables@Nitida – Smoked Tomato, Roast Red Pepper and Gremolata as their vegetarian option, and Spicy Beef and Bean Soup served with a choice of a warm ciabatta/ delicious seed loaf or sweet potato roll, each at R50.00 per portion.

Kiddies can enjoy hot dogs and burgers, as well as a host of fun activities including jumping castles.

For those with a taste for live music, Ricky Nass will be playing solo on Saturday the 7 June and alongside Chris Rayne on Sunday 8th.
