Each year the Absa Cape Epic starts at the Knysna Waterfront and finishes at Lourensford Wine Estate. However, the stage towns and the route change each and every year. The stage towns and the general route outline are revealed on this the Absa Cape Epic website approximately 6 months prior to the race. The detailed route remains secret until the start of the race.
Much of the route is on private land and is only opened to mountain bikers once a year for the Absa Cape Epic. Daily stages are typically between 80 and 140km. There is always a combination of single track, rugged jeep tracks and fast flowing gravel roads, and as little tarred road as possible.
