The Durbanville Wine Valley Association (DWVA) charms the country and visitors of the Cape between 14 and 16 September with an annual festival celebrating exceptional wines produced in this region.
Season of Sauvignon – a weekend-long celebration of festivities showcases the very best of country life, arts, food, live entertainment and outdoor activities in honor of the award-winning and world-renowned Sauvignon Blanc wines produced by Altydgedacht, Bloemendal, D’Aria, De Grendel, De Diemersdal, Durbanville Hills, Hillcrest, Meerendal and Nitida.
From vineyard and cellar tours, wine-tastings, history lessons in winemaking, horse and carriage rides for kids, performances by top South African artists and personalities to jazz bands, the Season of Sauvignon program boast a variety of activities for young and old.
As part on a variety of great cuisine, food lovers can look forward to laidback lunches or sophisticated dining. Gourmet five-course buffet meals and wine pairings, picnic baskets in estate gardens, traditional ‘boerekos’, West Coast fish braais, and cheese and wines will be offered by the cellars or restaurants.
DWVA last year launched their world-first, Sauvignon Blanc box set, named ‘A Ward in a Box’. The box set contains nine bottles of wine produced by various cellars from the Durbanville Wine Valley. The latest vintage will be made available at Season of Sauvignon over the weekend festivities.
Thanks to a cooler climate and long-established vineyards, winemakers from Durbanville Wine Valley have become known for their tantalising Sauvignon blends.
Almost every bottle of Sauvignon Blanc wine produced in the Durbanville Wine Valley was been awarded a noteworthy four stars or more in the latest edition of the John Platter Wine Guide, a renowned authority on the art of wine-making.
A myriad of taste combinations flavor the Sauvignon Blancs of the Durbanville Wine Valley.
