Goldfish, the live electronic duo that are taking the dance world by storm are back with their 3rd studio album entitled,Get Busy Living.
Goldfish first burst onto the international consciousness when International Club Super Brand Pacha signed them to create an album for their Perceptions of Pacha series. As no other album, Goldfish captured the carefree vibe of the magical island of Ibiza, and the numerous awards, platinum sales in their home country and a top 10 on the US iTunes Dance Charts firmly cemented their reputation as guys to watch.
Aside from their residency-to-die-for at Pacha Ibiza, The boys also quickly found themselves maintaining a grueling globetrotting tour schedule with sold-out shows from Miami to Moscow, from Sydney Opera House to Sao Paulo, and in-between still finding time to mix the coveted covermount CD for DJ mag.
With all that time on tour and brimming with ideas from their amazing experiences travelling the world, enough was enough. Goldfish locked themselves away for the 1st half of 2010 creating, jamming and recording the tracks that had been developing on the road. Combining their signature organic jazzy sampled sound with crisp production and incredible vocal collaborations – The Fishies are back – with an album that is guaranteed to make Goldfish a household name. Get Busy Living has that Goldfish sound fans know and love, but with a development and maturity that shows they have truly come of age. There is no better time than now to Get Busy Living.

Track Listing
Get busy Living – Goldfish have done it again. Blissful uplifting pianos, an absolutely huge chorus, all tied up with a slamming beat. Featuring the honeyed vocals of super-talent Emily Bruce, “This track took us completely by surprise. It morphed from a jam we had during a gig and that piano riff just opened up into a full song…All the best ideas happen to us when we aren’t trying. As soon as you try… you’re screwed!”
We come Together - Goldfish stretch out from four-to-the-floor territory with chunky Hip hop beats that will have you bopping your head in no time. ‘‘We’d always been a fan of Questlove(drummer for the Roots) and his style of drumming and we wanted to capture that organic driving rhythm…Sakhile’s vocals and machine-gun rap really took this to a place we’d never gone before.”
Call me – Hypnotizing rhythms, bitter-sweet La Roux, Sarah McLachlan-esque vocals. Once again, Goldfish write a chorus worth it’s weight in gold. Featuring the vocals of Monique Hellenberg, known for her appearance on The Goldfish hit This is how it goes. “We couldn’t imagine not doing a track without Monique! She lends such a sense of vulnerability to the song. It’s all about the push and pull of new relationships and the games people play with each other. One minute you’re in heaven, the next, your heart is smashed to smithereens”
Humbug – a track that makes you think it’s Gorilaz-meets-Chocolate rain, with a bridge play-out that will be stuck in your head for weeks. Sakhile Moleshe features once again. “This track had a real playfulness about it. Sak took about a million takes till he was happy with his delivery. Sort of laconic and in your face all at once…it’s always a pleasure working with a vocalist who cares as much as we do”
Show you how - Shout-along chorus, juxtaposed with an almost Midnight Oil flavour to the vocals. Dave got behind the mic on this one. “It’s about some good memories in Ibiza, we’ve had some special moments here over the years…”
Crunchy Joe - The answer to Fort Knox. Buzzing baselines, crunchy blues riffs, all tied into a chorus you can’t help but sing along to the next time it comes around. Featuring Dom’s prized Wurlitzer Keyboard, found in of all places a deserted School in the Karoo, or so the story goes
Brush your Hair – Goldfish get back to their roots with a jazzy, bopping tune. Scatting vocals, sizzling brush rhythms and a B-section that turns a playful track into something rather mean…”That Bass line halfway through is a Moog run through a Korg MS-20 plug-in….and if you know what that means you’re sound geeks like us” laughs Dave
In too deep – ‘We were really proud of this track. Dave and I spent an absolute fortune importing a special boutique hand-made valve pre-amp for our vocal mic and you know what? It was worth every penny when you listen to how Emily’s vocal came out. It just has that vintage warmth and clarity of Jazz vocalists like Nancy Sinatra and Stacy Kent that you just don’t get on a lot of recordings these days. Suppose you get what you pay for! Kudos to Emily for absolutely nailing her take with that great scat solo on the outro. We also really like the contrast between the Sax and Double Bass flavours in the verse against that chubby Moog Synth Bassline in the chorus. We’ll always be fond of this one!”
