tvplus has acquired the much-talked-about blue dress and is giving fans the chance to win it. “I absolutely loved the dress when I saw it,” Michelle says in the latest issue of tvplus magazine. Get out your walking or running shoes. The 27 for Freedom event will be held on Saturday 9 February at Drakenstein Correctional Centre as a reminder of Nelson Mandela’s unprecedented quest for dignity and justice for all. The event comprises running and walking categories. Plus, there will be plenty of entertainment to get you moving.
The fourth annual 27 for Freedom event will be hosted by the Department of Correctional Services with Drakenstein Municipality and Cape Winelands District Municipality and is proudly supported by Huisgenoot, YOU and DRUM.

The event consists of three categories at distances that can be either walked or run, 5 km, 10 km and 27 km, as well as the fun 50 m toddlers’ run.

Heat Stars Dress Up 2012

As 2012 draws to a close, heat magazine asked some of South Africa’s most popular stars to recreate 2012’s iconic moments for their annual Stars Dress Up feature.

Local hunks Francois Hougaard, actor Ty Keogh, singer Kobus Muller and presenter Simba Mhere reenacted 2012’s hottest film, Magic Mike, for heat’s Christmas issue.

“It’s been a year of highs and lows in the world of celebrities, and we’re very grateful to all our local stars who participated in this year’s Stars Dress Up. It’s became a tradition at heat, and this year’s recreations are bigger and better than ever before,” says heat editor, Andre Neveling.

Other celebrities who participated in this year’s Stars Dress Up include Jena Dover as Angelina Jolie, Pearl Thusi as Whitney Houston, Kuli Roberts as Madonna,Mark Pilgrim as Chad le Clos and Shashi Naidoo as Kim Kardashian. South Africa’s proudest electronic export, Goldfish, has returned to South Africa after another Ibiza Summer residency and three month tour of Europe!

They will be playing their first show back in Cape Town at The Grand Café & Beach on Sunday, 11 November 2012.

Skouspel 2012 is hier en met meer as 60 kunstenaars – die grootste ooit!

Huisgenoot-Skouspel gaan vanjaar asems wegslaan soos nog nooit vantevore nie. Met meer as 60 kunstenaars op die verhoog – die meeste in Skouspel-geskiedenis – gaan dit ’n musiekekstravaganza wees soos Suid-Afrika nog nooit beleef het nie. Boonop is vanjaar se aanbieders die nuuslegende Riaan Cruywagen en die geliefde Lizz Meiring.

Vanjaar fokus Huisgenoot-Skouspel veral op die legendes. Behalwe vir die twee top-aanbieders, sal gunstelinge soos Laurika Rauch, Rina Hugo, André Schwartz en Coenie de Villiers ook ’n draai maak. Huisgenoot vergeet egter nie van vars talent nie. Kyk uit vir Charlize Berg, die sangpaar Hulle, Ricus Nel, Adam Tas, Armand Hofmeyr en Dewald Louw.

En natuurlik sal sterre soos Die Heuwels Fantasties, Rouchelle Liedemann, Kurt Darren, Joe Niemand, Willem Botha, Romanz en Rudi Claasse weer daar wees.

“Afrikaanse musiek het ’n groot erfenis, maar leef nie net in die verlede nie – elke dag word nog jong, nuwe talent gebore,” sê Izelle Venter, hoofredakteur van Huisgenoot, YOU en DRUM. “Skouspel is ’n viering van hierdie erfenis. Dis nie net ’n uitvoering van die een treffer na die ander nie, maar ’n fyn gechoreografeerde verwerking van die beste musiek deur die talentvolste sterre in ons land, en vanjaar gaan ons al hierdie elemente saambring.”

Goldfish – Washing Over Me

After their international signing to EMI, South Africa’s proudest electronic export Goldfish are well and truly back with their new single Washing Over Me – and it’s destined to be a smasher.

‘Washing over me is taking Goldfish in a whole new direction’ says Dave on the phone from Miami where the Fishies had just finished playing their set at Miami Winter Music Conference.  ‘It’s definitely got a more Rock-ish vibe and features Steve Sparrow on vocals from the UK Indie Rock sensation Morning Parade…we’ve played it out live a couple of times including today and it’s crazy to see the crowd reaction!’

‘We recorded the vocals in Amsterdam at the legendary Wisseloord Studios, known as the Abbey Road of Europe’ chimes in Dom. ‘Everyone from the Chili Peppers to Snoop Dog has recorded there so we were in very good company…and it was great to work with Steve Sparrow as he was absolutely perfect for the track. We’re so proud of this single, we’ve got an amazing team working with us at EMI and it’s definitely the start of the next level for Goldfish!’

No stranger to South Africa, Goldfish hold numerous SAMA awards, Platinum sales and a massive following in their home country. The electronic duo are also breaking out across Europe, having just sold out their own 6000 capacity Festival ‘Goldfish Outdoor’ in Amsterdam months in advance, as well as confirmed residents for DJ Megastar David Guetta’s F*** Me I’m Famous night at  Pacha Ibiza for the second year running. With slew of headline festival bookings across Europe including Extrema and Rock in Rio Madrid, the Fishies are looking forward to a very busy European Summer.
