Food and Wine pairing with Nitida & Bistro 1800

On Friday, 25 April 2014, the illustrious Cape Royale Luxury Hotel and Spa’s Bistro 1800 Restaurant will be hosting the first of a series of six food and wine pairing evenings to run through the coming autumn and winter months. Multi-award winning Nitida Wines will debut the culinary festivities, giving guests the opportunity to enjoy their vintage varietals paired with exotic compositions of gastronomic delight.

Nitida winemaker Brendan Butler will spearhead the four-course pairing with Bistro 1800 Sommelier, Ardiel Norodien, and Head Chef, Bevan Webb.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with Sterling EQ at Nitida Wine Estate

Multi-award winning South African instrumental pop group Sterling EQ returns to Nitida, one of Cape Town’s premiere Durbanville-based wine estates, for what promises to be another unforgettable Valentine’s Day concert under the open sky.

Following the success of last year’s event the popular trio will be performing another delightful blend of old and new favourites, accompanied by delectable picnic baskets filled with a selection of delicious tapas and platters, and a bottle of NitidaRoxia. A special kids’ picnic basket filled with yummy treats will be available for children under 12, who can also enjoy the concert and the dedicated play area at Tables@Nitida.  The event will take place at Tables Restaurant’s natural amphitheatre.

Tickets cost R600 per couple / R300 per person, which include the concert, picnic basket and wine, and are available at Computicket.  Free entry for under 12’s, and kids picnic baskets are R60 each.  Only food and beverages purchased at the venue will be allowed, and a cash bar will be available. Doors open at 17h30 and concert starts at 19h00. Guests are encouraged to bring along picnic blankets or camping chairs.

Annual Soup, Sip and Bread Festival hosted at Nitida Wine Estate

Nitida Wine Estate is warming up the Valley this winter with delicious soups, crispy bread and handmade wines! Cassia Restaurant and Tables @ Nitida, situated on the spectacular Nitida Wine Farm, will take part in Durbanville Wine Valley’s annual Soup, Sip and Bread festival, on 1 – 2 June 2013.

Cassia will be showcasing five superb soups themed to reflect the four Elements of Nature – plus an exceptional fifth element called Ether (clear sky). All the soups have featured on Cassia’s menu as old favourites over the past five years. The soups are served from traditional potjie pots at R60.00 per soup or R90.00 for a choice of four; each accompanied with a freshly home baked Panini.

The choice of soups being served is:

  • Earth: Vegetable and Barley Soup
  • Wind: Bean, Cabbage, Lentil and Ham Hock
  • Fire: Lamb Vindaloo
  • Water: Seafood Chowder
  • Ether: Chicken Consommé Royale

Cassia will also be serving burgers at R40.00 and foot long hot dogs at R30.00. Entertainment includes music by contemporary local musician, Ricky Nass. No reservations required.

While Tables @ Nitida will offer guests their usual A la Carte menu, they will also embrace the spirit of Soup, Sip and Wine Festival with two hearty soups. Thursday, 9 May 2013, saw the launch of a refreshing new grand menu for Cape Royale’s Bistro 1800. Cape Royale Luxury Hotel and Spa treated guests to a special three course journey from the VIP Sky Bar to Bistro 1800 restaurant, catering a selection of delicious dishes from their new menu for an exclusive first-hand experience.  These bite size dishes were perfectly paired with a variety of Nitida wines.

Chef, Jonathan Gargan, and Food and Beverage manager, George Sakulias, combined local, fresh ingredients, innovation and professional artistry to present a menu which offers uncomplicated and flavourful dishes. “There are many factors that come into play when compiling a menu”, says Sakulias, “firstly you have to decide on the concept that you would like to achieve and the identity of what you would like to establish. The concept created for Bistro 1800 is hearty, comfort food where the guest may treat themselves to an experience that is authentic, but homely”.

Bistro 1800 believes that providing seasonal foods to a health-conscious clientele is very important. It is also important to maintain the integrity of the food source when cooking with specific ingredients. Simplicity is the secret when it comes to describing the overall style of the revamped menu.

The name Bistro 1800 is derived from the restaurant’s signature New York-style grill, which cooks the perfect steak at exactly 1800 degrees Fahrenheit.
